intro
Welcome to the show! I have a great interview coming up so i’ll get right into the terms for this week:
The first term i have for you today is Hand-blown glass
(Screen “Hand-blown Glass”)
READING.
This is used describe glassware that is not machine-made, distinguishing it from glass blown by an automated machine or press-molded. It’s shaped (with or without a mold) with air blown by mouth through a blowpipe. If you ever get a chance to go to Venice, you can watch the glass blowers make something right in front of your eyes!
(Screen “As is”)
This is a phrase used by antique dealers to make explain that an object is being without any guarantee or warranty. You can still get some great pieces ‘as is,’ but make sure you examine the piece or the photos carefully.

Now it’s time for a viewer question with Ask Tammy
(Screen: “Ask Tammy”)
This question comes from Dagmar in Texas, Dagmar writes
READING: Hi Tammy, I appreciate your hard work writing your book on hummel collectibles, but since I only own 1 hummel I was hoping you could give me an estimate on it’s value. I have a Christmas bell 1982,limited edition, it is metal with a porcelain picture on handle. Thank you
Hummel produced all sorts of items besides figurines, but sadly most of those other items don’t have too much value.
READING: (use item Item number: 27033720710 for pic)The problem with bells or plates with years on them, is that they were fun to collect at the time they came out, but they are hard to sell off. Unless someone was born in that year, there just won’t be much appeal. You won’t really be able to sell it for more than a couple of dollars i’m afraid. But it would be a great gift for someone married or born in that year!
Dagmar wins 3 months of Collectibles For The Future!
