Vintage Hummel?

I have what I believe is a vintage Hummel. As close as I can figure it is called “Latest News”. However most of the ones I see with that name look like this one but the boy is reading a different paper. This one the boy is reading a paper called  “Daily News”. This figurine is also not as shiny as the ones I have seen listed. On the bottom there is just one little casting hole and  it has the number 184 casted in and what looks to be the crown over WG insignia that I saw on a website. It also has tiny initial “E” and what looks like 16.8 but not sure (these are hand written). It also has 16- written which I assume was the price at the time (also hand written). I believe that my mother brought this back from Germany when she was there aas a nurse during WWII.

Can any one tell me what the name of this is and if, as I believe, it truly is an original Hummel and what the value might be if I should choose to try to sell it.

Thanks so much for any help.

hi! it is latest news - what is the headline on the newspaper or does it just say Daily news. Is the MI hummel impressed into the side? Also what's the trademark:

How funny. I never noticed after all the looking over this Hummel that I did, but it does have the MI Hummel impressed onto the side. The paper does just say “Daily News”. No other writing on the paper, just lines to mimic writing. I am not sure what I am looking for as far as trade mark. On the bottom it in imprinted in relief (no inks or anything, just casted in) the number 184 and then what I am presuming to be the crown over the WG. Rather hard to see. That is all I am seeing on it.

if it's a crown it's a Trademark 1. Probably worth over $200 - you have a rarer one ;)
