Question: I have a Hummel firefighter/collectors set that I purchased in Germany in 2002.  It's commemorating 9-11 but it is in Brown and not the edition made for FDNY.  I was told only 75 were made.  70 for a private customer. I was able to purchase one of the extras. Does anyone have any additional info or an estimation of price?

Hi! what is the number on the bottom? Should be inscribed into it…

Tammy,

It is a 2030and marked 1997  but has a marking “First Issue Millennium 2000″ just under the 2030.  The base is marked F.D.N.Y. on the front and September 11, 2001 on the back.  It looks like the standard firefighter in brown and may have been a prototype for the FDNY version which is in black.  It also has the Goebel bee mark and small initails or signature on the bottom.  The “To The Rescue” firehouse, Mark#1020-D, appears to be the standard release.

Tammy,

Thanks.  I like the piece because It is different and I believe rarer than the “Limited Edition”.  I wish I could find out who it was actually made for and how many were actually made?  Also, if it was a prototype for the Llimited Edition”? Maybe another one or two will pop up and the owners will have more info.

Bob
